Bob was the very entertaining speaker at the CGS AGM held at Ness Gardens in 2010. He will give us a talk and slide show on how we can make the best use of space in the garden, fitting as many plants as pos¬sible. Bob has an encyclopaedia of over 10,000 plants on the internet which gives a full description of all the planted listed and some he has for sale by mail order.

All those who are regular show visitors will know Ken and Mary Green of The Walled Garden, Hornby and Ken's distinctive lucky bow tie. He reckons he always wins a gold medal when he wears it. He will give a talk and slide show on how we can best attract wildlife into our gardens with the plants we grow. Hopefully he will also have plants to sell.

Nick, who is President of the Cottage Garden Society, is returning to complete the talk and slide show he started in February 2010. Then he told us how his father Geoff Hamilton got into TV work and started Barnsdale and now he will continue the story of how he kept Barnsdale going following the sad untimely death of Geoff. Bring along all the friends who came to the last meeting to make it a night to remember. To make this even more attractive the committee have decided to maintain our normal admission fees by subsidising this event from our general funds. Nick will bring plants for sale.

We will start with our AGM which will be followed by refreshments before our talk. Peter has now passed Holden Clough Nursery on to his son John and has moved to Waddow Lodge in Waddington which he now opens for the National Gardens Scheme. He still broadcasts on Radio Lancashire on the gardening programme on Sunday lunchtime. He will give us a talk and slide show on which plants fit well into the smaller garden and also bring plants for sale.
